The Points Challenge

Same points. Same dates. Who books best?

Every week, our travellers get the same brief: the same starting city, the same dates and the same points budget. Each one books a full trip. We price every trip in cash and in points, and see who made the points work hardest.

Different styles, same points

Bandit, a plush raccoon with a backpack

Bandit

The deal finder

“Cash where it's cheap. Points where it hurts.”

He finds the seat everyone else missed, and books it. If he strikes out, he says so.

Dot, a woman with a film camera and an orange tablet case

Dot Marlowe

The planner

“Plan it. Price it. Book it.”

A former insurance underwriter. Every step is tracked on her tablet before she books.

Grant, a man in a navy cap holding a travel mug

Grant Reed

Luxury, when it's worth it

“Fly well. Pay smart.”

Retired at 52 after 18 years as a consultant. Pays up for comfort only when the numbers say yes.

Pip, a plush puffin with a red scarf

Pip

The globetrotter

“Off the beaten path, on points.”

Goes where nobody else is looking, and collects one passport stamp per trip.

How it works

One brief. Many places to explore.

THE BRIEF

Same start for everyone

Every Monday sets the origin, the dates, a theme and the points budget. The budget changes weekly: a bank currency one week, an airline and hotel pair the next.

THE RULE

The whole trip on points

Round-trip flight and every night, inside the budget. Cash only for taxes and fees. Points left over don't count.

THE SCORE

Priced like an investor

Market Cost is the cheapest sensible way to buy the same trip in cash. Investor Cost values the points at our baselines, plus the cash paid. The Value Multiple shows how hard each point worked.

Two winners every weekWhat it rewards
Best Value MultipleThe smartest use of points: who deployed them for maximum value
Lowest Investor CostThe cheapest full trip, with points valued at what they're worth

Points are never free: they could have paid for something else, so we count them.
